This process encourages great ideas to come forward from local groups, builds community support and collaboration, and gives local residents a direct say in how they want the District 8 capital funds spent. 311 – HRM’s Call Centre
HRM’s call centre is open 8am-8pm Mon-Fri, 9am-5:30pm weekends to respond to routine inquiries and complaints from HRM residents. Please use this service since it helps HRM keep track of issues that are of concern for residents (missed solid waste pickup, sidewalks not cleared, transit info or complaints, etc.) For more information please visit http://www.halifax.ca/311/

Emergency Preparedness Week
Emergency Preparedness Week is May 5th-11th, and Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency’s (HRFE’s) Emergency Management Division is urging you to become ‘emergency ready’.

Learn how you can be prepared https://www.halifax.ca/emergency-management. We are also holding a contest where you could win one of twenty Emergency kits (approximate retail value $30 each)

Call for Volunteers – Municipal Boards & Committees
The Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking volunteers for various Regional Council advisory boards and committees. The municipality is focused on making its boards and committees more reflective of the communities it represents. As such, applications are encouraged from rural residents, women, youth aged 18-25, and diverse citizens. Terms are generally for 1-2 years and are volunteer (unpaid) positions. Boards and committees typically meet once a month. Residents interested are encouraged to apply no later than Monday, May 13th at 11:59 p.m.
