311 – HRM’s Call Centre
HRM’s call centre is open 7 days/week from 7 am to 11 pm to respond to routine inquiries and complaints from HRM residents. Please use this service since it helps HRM keep track of issues that are of concern for residents (missed solid waste pickup, sidewalks not cleared, transit info or complaints, etc.) For more information please visit http://www.halifax.ca/311/
Please send your feedback on issues before Community Council and Regional Council – and on any municipal issue. If you would like to send your comments to all Regional Councillors please email the Clerk’s Office (clerks@halifax.ca) so that your comments are shared and are part of the public record.
Update:
Storm Update:
The storm system that we received yesterday resulted in 55 to 70 cm of snow accumulation throughout the municipality, depending on location. Sidewalk operations are presently underway but service will be severely impacted due to the volume of snow present. Our main streets & emergency routes are 75% cleared and passable with isolated slippery sections. 50% of residential streets have received a single plow pass to provide emergency access.
- ALL available resources have been activated to focus on clearing efforts 24/7.
- ALL service timelines will be delayed
- Sidewalk clearing is underway. Majority of all sidewalks have snow depths of over 1m and have also experienced multiple snow piles over 3m in height from private plowing operations depositing snow in the sidewalk areas from driveway and parking lot clearing.
- Clearing bus stops will begin this evening and all bus stops will not be fully accessible for several days.
- Please park off street; lend a hand clearing pathways and driveways of those who may be challenged with this task; where possible, help clear snow from nearby fire hydrants and catch basins
The Overnight Winter Parking Ban IS IN EFFECT tonight Feb. 15, 2017 from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m.
Important Safety Message:
Please keep children away from building snow forts, tunnels or playing on/in the snow banks and piles that are on or near the streets and sidewalks. Our equipment will be continuing to plow and remove the snow in these areas.
